The Strategy Academy

Understand what applies to you, and what to do next.

Wherever you are in life, the Strategy Academy helps you understand where you stand today, then build a plan to get where you want to go financially.

What members receive

  • Tax Planner

Six short steps build a planning estimate from your own figures. Your answers save as you go, so you can stop and come back.

  • My Tax Plan

Plain-language action cards from your answers, in deadline order: what each is about, by when, and the next step. Mark one Complete, or Not for me.

  • Trust

For trustees GHL has set up as trust clients: what a trustee keeps, reports and files, in order, starting with a first-week checklist.

  • Business Success

Starting a business and running it year after year, with a guided plan for each business you add and the guides that go with it.

  • Debt Freedom

One guided path in seven steps, from your numbers and a payoff plan to staying on track each month. Your plan saves to your account.

  • Library221 available

Guides dated with the law year they were written against, starting from “Where to start”, plus a tax calendar, deductions and limits, and a glossary.

  • Calculators28 available

Paycheck, estimated tax, retirement contributions, loans, budgeting and more, on figures you supply.

  • Templates51 available

Worksheets and logs you keep through the year, so the records exist before preparation rather than being rebuilt from memory.

  • Learning Paths and saved items

Short sequences through a subject, and the guides you come back to, kept in collections of your own.

  • Diagram Builder

Draw who owns what — people, companies and assets — and export it as a PDF or image to share with a tax professional or attorney.

  • Check-ins

A few short questions at the right moment of the year. A change you report brings up the guides it affects.

  • Bryan, the Academy educator

Points to what applies next as you go: a starting point on your Academy home, and hints inside each area.

What it looks like

The Tax Planner on its second step, Income sources, with a progress indicator across six steps, a ticked box for a job, and a wages figure entered.
The Tax Planner asks only what applies, one step at a time, and keeps your place.
The Diagram Builder showing an owner, the S corporation they own, and the office building and equipment the company holds, with the editing panel alongside.
The Diagram Builder draws who owns what. Demonstration figures and names.

Who it is for

  • Individuals past a basic returnInvestments, a rental, a home office, retirement withdrawals, or a year that changed.
  • Business ownersSole proprietors, S corporations and C corporations: owner pay, records and the business return.
  • PartnersPartners in a partnership that files Form 1065, and what the partnership return needs from its books.
  • Trustees and fiduciariesThe bookkeeping and tax-reporting side of administering a trust, including how the trust's own return works. Education only: keeping the books and preparing the return are GHL services, engaged separately.

What it is not

  • Not a prepared return. The Tax Planner is an educational estimate from the figures you enter.
  • Not legal advice. GHL prepares returns and keeps books; it does not draft trust or legal documents.
  • Not a replacement for professional review. Whether something applies to you is settled with GHL, on your own facts.
  • Does not begin paid work. Asking GHL about a guide starts a conversation, not an engagement.

Who is behind it

  • Corinne Shipman, MBA, MSMManaging Partner & Tax Professional

Leads GHL's tax practice and oversees the Academy's professional content.

  • BryanAcademy Educator & Client Support

Writes and teaches the training material, and supports members as they use it.

Questions

What do I get access to?

Everything in the Academy that has been released: the guides, videos, calculators, templates, the Tax Planner, My Tax Plan and the Diagram Builder. New guides appear as they are published. Your Academy home shows which areas are yours.

How does billing work, and how do I cancel?

Cancel any time from your account page, which opens Stripe's billing portal. Your access continues until the end of the year you have paid for.

What happens to figures I enter in the Tax Planner?

They are saved to your profile so the planner opens where you left it. GHL can see what you save, but saving it does not ask GHL to review it. Nothing is filed anywhere, and you can delete it from the planner or your account page at any time.

Is this the same as working with GHL?

No. The Academy is education: how rules work, what to keep, and what to ask. Advice on your own situation, preparing your return and any other work are GHL's professional services, agreed separately.
